Root Canal Therapy in Burlington, ON

It’s natural to feel a little bothered if your dentist recommends a root canal treatment. However, thanks to advanced technology and effective sedation methods, root canal treatments at Skyway Dental Care are now pain-free.

What Is Root Canal Therapy?

Toothache, whether dull, intense, or intermittent, can be frustrating and exhausting to deal with. Once our experienced dentist near you performs root canal treatment, you will experience pain relief. Root canal therapy in Burlington, ON not only alleviates pain, but it also helps preserve natural teeth and helps them last longer.

The front teeth and canines have one tooth root, while premolars and molars usually have 2-3 tooth roots. The ‘root canal’ is a narrow passageway that extends from the pulp chamber (a hollow space inside the tooth structure) to the tooth roots. Dr. Sabri performs root canal therapy if the soft tissue in the pulp chamber becomes inflamed.

Preparing for Root Canal Therapy near You

Root canal therapy is usually performed over two sessions. If the procedure is particularly complex, we may refer you to an endodontist for further diagnosis and treatment. Once you visit Skyway Dental Care, the dentist will take a series of x-rays of the infected tooth to confirm the extent and precise location of the problem.

Our trained dentist in Burlington, ON will first use a local anesthetic to numb the tooth and the area surrounding it. In some cases, the tooth nerves may be dead, and there will be no sensitivity; we may not need to administer sedation.

Removing the Decayed Material

Once the anesthetic takes effect, we will place a rubber dam to isolate the tooth and ensure that it’s dry during the procedure. The dam also prevents patients from swallowing any chemicals used during the process. We will access the pulp chamber through the tooth’s crown (the top part) to clean out the root canal and remove the infected soft tissue.

If the patient has a pus-filled abscess, Skyway Dental Care will drain it. Once the infected tooth pulp is removed, we will enlarge the root canal and seal it against further infection.
